#Abortionrights
The topic of abortions has sparked quiet a controversy in these past years, with many people against it and many for it. It even goes as far as government officials making it illegal for women to have (safe and hygienic) abortions in certain countries. South Africa happens to be one of the fortunate countries that don’t have bad debates or disputes against abortions and abortions have been legal since 1st February 1997. So many people are blinded by their beliefs and values that they fail to see that an abortion is a woman’s right and many settle for abortions because of circumstances. 1. This is a very critical and sensitive topic which needs a very serious consideration by women. If a woman is in the position between trying to decide whether or not to have an abortion, carefulness is needed. There are other options around which can be considered, including raising the child yourself or giving the child up for adoption. The detrimental side is that you are literally taking the life, or potential life, of another human being. Think about what that child could grow up to do. The child can be an amazing doctor who cures cancer, or a teacher who inspires children, or someone in the community who works to make our world a better place. Am therefore, against abortion

    1. Deciding to abort is not an easy decision to make but if one decides to do so they must do it safely. Backdoor abortions often lead to death. There are many accredited hospitals and abortion clinics in South Africa. If one resides in a country that has a ban on abortions then it is better to be safe than sorry. Children are a gift and they must be given that chance to live.

    2. Children are a blessing indeed, but sometimes situations push women into making decisions they might regret ot=r even feel guilty about.

    3. @GideonPhiri I understand your point of view but sometimes the woman is either unable to carry the baby ( in order to give it up for adoption) or can't afford the prenatal care they require. I believe that most women who go through abortions do it as a last resort.

  4. Although it can be your right I feel it's unfair to the unborn child to take its life before it even gets a chance to know it purpose. Let's not get pregnant rather than killing an innocent child.

  5. It is a good thing that the government has made abortion legal because at the end of the day women have the right to choose what they want to do with their bodies and that includes whether they want to keep the child or not but at the same time the government has to get rid of these illegal facilities because they are harmful to women.

  6. Abortion is such a sensitive topic but I always feel like unless we've walked in the shoes of those who have made such decisions, we can never judge.
